Plot

A large computer company has developed a new computer operating system that reconfigures a network of computers into a system similar to a super computer. In today’s networks, the server does most of the work. The processors in the workers desktop computers utilize very little of their power. In a super computer, the processors are tied together and share the work load.

The eccentric genius programmer, Doc has developed such a program. When instituted, it spreads like a virus throughout the network absorbing each computer’s processing power into the overall system. Doc walks off an installation at the US Embassy before completion claiming thugs trying to collect on a gambling debt are threatening his life.

Eddie Harris, a nerdy computer tech is hand picked by the company’s president, Eric Carson to finish the installation. Doc tries to convince Eddie that if he completes the installation, his life might be in danger. Doc claims the FireFox operating system can be unleased into China, giving the CIA the ability to inspect the contents of every absorbed computer’s disk drives. Eric claim’s Doc’s version is the product of an overactive paranoid mind and the system is just another operating system that is faster and cheaper than the competitors.

Both Doc and Eric seek to control Eddie for their own purposes. Eddie must decide who is lying to him and who is telling him the truth by judging their character. Doc is his friend but a little bit crazy and eccentric. Eric is smooth and manipulative with questionable morals. It brings him to the question;

Are Good and Evil Absolutes?
